Everton player Martin Sherif accused of breaching FA betting rules
Liberia-born Dutch youth international forward Martin Sherif has been accused of making 61 bets on football over a 15-month period
Everton forward Martin Sherif has been accused of breaching FA betting rules over a 15-month period.
The 20-year-old, who has yet to make an appearance for the first-team but has been named as an unused substitute, has been accused of placing 61 bets on football matches between November 20, 2024 and February 12 this year.
Sherif, who was born in Liberia but has represented the Netherlands at under-17 level, has been charged with breaching FA Rule E1.2, and has until Monday to provide a response to the charges.
The ECHO understands the club are cooperating with the FA and are supporting the player through the process.
Sherif arrived at Everton as a 13-year-old in 2019, and has been a regular goalscorer at youth level.
He joined Rotherham and Port Vale on loan spells last season, clocking up 29 appearances in League One and playing for the Valiants against Chelsea in the FA Cup.
