Premier League club Nottingham Forest are monitoring highly-rated Nigerian striker Abdoulaye Agbejoye ahead of a potential move in the current summer transfer window, according to The Sun UK. Agbejoye is regarded as one of Nigeria's most promising strikers after a string of impressive performances in the country's domestic football scene. The teenage forward enjoyed a remarkable campaign in the Nigeria Youth League Cup, where he scored 19 goals in 20 league matches. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, with a number of Premier League clubs reportedly keeping close tabs on his development. Nottingham Forest are among the clubs leading the race for the Nigerian youngster, having repeatedly sent scouts to monitor his performances in Nigeria. German Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in the striker and have been tracking his progress closely in recent months. However, Forest are believed to be in pole position as they look to beat their European rivals to the signature of the highly-rated youngster. The Premier League club reportedly view Agbejoye as a long-term investment, believing he possesses the attributes and potential to develop into a top-level striker. Nottingham Forest are also believed to be leveraging the presence of Super Eagles duo Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina in their bid to persuade the youngster to choose the club ahead of other interested teams. Agbejoye's rapid rise has also been recognised at international level. His outstanding displays earned him an invitation to Nigeria's U-20 national team, and he is currently representing the Flying Eagles at the ongoing WAFU B U-20 Championship in Ivory Coast. The 18-year-old came off the bench in the semi-final victory over Ivory Coast and calmly converted the decisive spot-kick as the Flying Eagles triumphed 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation and extra time.
