Tottenham and Inter Milan have reached an agreement in principle for Djed Spence to move to Serie A. The deal should now be wrapped up quickly.
That’s according to SportMediaset journalist Orazio Accomando, who brings a significant update on the negotiations on Wednesday.
He says the two clubs have settled on a fee of €30m (£26m) plus bonuses. Inter have also made good progress on personal terms with the Tottenham player.
Inter closing in on Spence
Djed Spence has been in talks with Inter for some time. Dialogue between the parties has remained “constant and positive”. The Italian side are offering him a contract running until 2031.
Tuesday’s reports had already suggested Inter could close the operation for a figure close to €35m (£30.3m). There was still work to do with both Tottenham and the player at that stage.
Things have moved quickly since then. Accomando now describes the transfer as close to completion. The agreement in principle with Spurs removes the biggest obstacle.
Inter still need to finalise everything, but the direction of travel is pretty clear.

Strange situation after impressive World Cup
Djed Spence potentially leaving Tottenham this summer is particularly interesting given the past few months.
The 26-year-old enjoyed an excellent World Cup with England and returned to Spurs with his reputation considerably enhanced. That apparently hasn’t been enough to make him a key part of Roberto De Zerbi’s plans.
The Italian manager doesn’t seem to view Spence as one of his priorities for the coming season. Tottenham are now prepared to cash in despite his performances on the biggest stage.
From Spurs’ perspective, €30m (£26m) plus bonuses would at least represent a substantial fee for a player who doesn’t appear central to the manager’s thinking.
For Inter, the situation has created an opportunity. They can sign a player coming off an excellent World Cup while Tottenham seem willing to sanction his departure.
With an agreement in principle now in place and talks with Spence progressing positively, the remaining steps appear to be about getting the operation over the line.
