Jota Silva was left with a “bitter taste” after his Olympiacos debut which leaves the Portuguese forward and the Greek giants facing a huge match next week.
Jota has joined Olympiacos on a season-long loan deal as new Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner sanctioned his departure from the City Ground.
His first match was a Champions League qualifier as Olympiacos faced NEC Nijmegen on home soil, Jota coming on in the second half of a 0-0 draw in the first leg of a third qualifying round tie.
They will face NEC Nijmegen away in the second leg next week, with their chances of qualifying for the Champions League on the line.
Speaking after the goal-less first leg, Silva said: “The result is a bitter taste. We wanted to win our first home game of the year.
“We will give everything there, in the Netherlands, to qualify for the second game.
“Very happy, of course, for my debut, but I am sorry for the result. We all tried to score, we didn't succeed, we are sad. We will repeat every effort to qualify there.”
There is a clause in Jota’s loan deal which gives Olympiacos the option to make it a permanent transfer next summer.
Speaking previously about the move, he said: "The important thing for me was the project.
“I think it was a project that has embraced me and in general I feel good in the team. It was not a difficult decision to come, I knew a lot about the club and I liked it a lot. I am happy with my first days in the team.
“I think there is a different dynamic and personally I would like to have a very good season to help the group and its goals.
“The group is fantastic, it is a very close-knit family. The whole atmosphere is fantastic, how I have integrated into the group. In general, I think I will gradually feel more and more comfortable with the group.”
