Feyenoord have made it clear to Nottingham Forest that they want €33m without bonuses for Givairo Read this summer.
1908.nl report on comments from ESPN journalist Daniël Man on the *Tekengeld* podcast this week regarding the 20-year-old’s future.
Nottingham Forest Attempts
The website explains that Nottingham Forest have made several attempts in recent weeks to sign the right-back this summer.
Their efforts appeared to have been handed a boost earlier this week too as Roma walked away from a potential deal. The Italian side had been left frustrated by Feyenoord’s high demands for the youngster.
That left the path clear for Nottingham Forest. But it remains to be seen whether Oliver Glasner’s side want to pay what Feyenoord are demanding. That, according to Man, is €33m without bonuses.
“Feyenoord is truly resolute. They rejected a total package of €29m for Read, consisting of €25m guaranteed and €4m in bonuses,” he said.
“Feyenoord isn’t going along with it. Naturally, this leads to disappointment in the Read camp. The player himself has agreed terms and is keen to make the move.
“Feyenoord wants a guaranteed fee of €33m, so they aren’t playing ball. Is there still a way forward? It really looks like the deal won’t happen now. Dévy Rigaux is standing firm and wants at least €33m. In fact, it almost seems as though he doesn’t want to sell at all.”
€40-50m In A Year
According to the journalist, the Dutch side are shooting high because they believe Givairo Read will only be getting better over the next 12 months.
“Read is viewed as a key player. Feyenoord’s stance is this: he has struggled with injuries and played only five matches after the winter break,” he added.
“Yet, there are already so many clubs willing to pay a high price this summer. What if he really shines in the Eredivisie and the Champions League next season?”
| League 2025/26 | | | | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Appearances | 16 | | | |
| Started | 11 | | | |
| Minutes per game | 59 | | | |
| Total minutes played | 940 | | | |
| Goals | 1 | | | |
| Assists | 3 | | | |
“He might even become a Dutch international. What kind of fee could we command then? €40m or €50m? That is the position Feyenoord is taking, and they are fully entitled to do so.”
In fact, they have already made their ideas clear to the defender. Stay where he is, and the bigger clubs than Nottingham Forest may come calling.
“Feyenoord is making it very clear to the player: go out there and excel, and next summer the top European clubs will come calling,” he concluded.
“Givairo is a gentleman. He loves Feyenoord and certainly won’t dig his heels in or cause a fuss. We expect him to play against Sparta on Sunday.”
