United States President Donald Trump made a bold promise to Americans during his speech on Wednesday night, but one noted body language expert is skeptical.
While Trump made headlines across the country by promising $5,000 to every adult American if Republicans hold both the House and the Senate after the midterm elections,
Trump Promises $5,000
Midway through his speech at the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas on Wednesday night, Trump made a staggering promise.
“Here is my promise: if the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them… because of our tremendous strength and success economically, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000,” he told a crowd at the GOP’s midterm convention in Dallas.
“I’m asking you to pretend that I’m on the ballot,” he added.
The total cost of the plan would exceed $1 trillion.
Trump is ‘Bluffing,’ Expert Claims
Noted body language expert Inbaal Honigman regularly analyzes the body language of celebrities, politicians, and professional athletes. Following Trump’s recent speech, she analyzed his body language and determined that Trump shows signs of dishonesty.
“When Trump makes his five-thousand-dollar promise, his whole body displays signs of tension,” Honigman said in an analysis commissioned by casino.ca. “His hands grip the sides of the podium, his fingers tense. His shoulders are raised with tension, so much so that his ear nearly touches his shoulder.”
Honigman said that this is generally a sign of dishonesty.
“Tension in the body is more synonymous with lying than truth-telling because the stakes are higher if one is caught in deceit,” Honigman said. “There are two tension lines between his eyes, revealing his deep concern. These vertical lines, nicknamed ‘the 11 lines,’ tend to indicate worry and profound concentration.”
“The Leader of the Free World is bluffing. Even when he makes the promise, he doesn’t know how he’d deliver,” she said.
This is not the first time that Honigman has analyzed Trump’s body language. She previously determined that Trump’s smile was “not authentic” when he was waving the green flag ahead of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix IndyCar race in Washington, D.C. last month.
