Aston Villa are back to the Premier League for their next fixtures on Saturday at 3 pm to welcome Nottingham Forest.
Aston Villa finally ended their winless run with a stunning win in the Champions League fixture in the midweek. They crushed the Belgian Champions Club Brugge 3-2. It certainly boosts the team’s confidence to continue this positive result in the Premier League.
Unai Emery also hopes to be able to field their new signings in this game. Johan Manzambi is the one the fans are expecting to see him on the pitch. He is one of the record signing this season beside Nicolas Jackson and nominated for Ballon D’Or in the category of Young Talent of the Year. He is the exciting signing who has yet to excite the fans.
However, Emery should be aware too with Nottingham Forest’s threat this season. They are under the manager who lifted up Crystal Palace in three seasons resulting in their first three silverwares in the club’s history. The Tricky Trees are still winless too this season so they could be motivated to stumble John McGinn and Co on the weekend.
In the last five games, Unai Emery’s men have a better record in the head-to-head meetings. They clinched three wins, were held once and slumped to a defeat once too. It was in the first leg of the Europa League semifinal last season.
Team News
Aston Villa might still be unable to field their ideal starting XI with Leon Goretzka and Johan Manzambi in it. They are both still injured. The latter has started his training but to select him as a starter would be too soon and rather risky. The Switzerland international could be coming off the bench later in the second half.
Apart from them, The Lions will also be unable to play Joao Gomes who is still ruled out for the suspension. He would be on the sideline with Brian Madjo who is also unavailable due to his injury and Amadou Onana with the same reason.
In the starting XI, Zion Suzuki is definitely between the sticks. At the backline, Pau Torres and Victor Lindelof will keep their place, whereas in the flanks, Matty Cash is likely to be selected ahead of Aaron Wan Bissaka, following his unsatisfactory debut in the Champions League, while Ian Maatsen is still the first choice ahead of Matteo Ruggeri.
In the midfield, Boubacar Kamara and Ross Barkley most likely get a nod in the line up. Then Emiliano Buendia, George Hemmings plus John McGinn on the attacking side to support Nicolas Jackson. Hopefully the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, or Tammy Abraham and Ruggeri could make a difference in the second half when they are handed over a chance.
