Newcastle United have confirmed that Lewis Hall has signed a two-year contract extension. The deal will keep him at the club until June 2031. 22-year-old Hall has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with reports of a possible move to Manchester United constantly in the media. The left-back signed on loan from Chelsea in 2023 and made the move permanent the following season. Hall: “A Really Proud Moment” The childhood Newcastle fan has made 106 appearances for the club so far, scoring one goal. Speaking to Newcastle United.com, he said: “I’m absolutely delighted. It’s a really proud moment. It’s an absolute pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters. “The fanbase and the support we get here, whether it’s at St James’ Park or away, it’s the best in the league in my opinion. “I obviously have a family connection with the club, which is incredibly important to us all. One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to watch me playing for Newcastle United. “It’s a really good place to be. It’s really pleasing with how we’ve started the season, especially with the new Gaffer and coaching staff coming in, and I think we can go on to achieve really big things.” Hall endured a difficult start to his Newcastle career. It was disrupted by injuries and a lack of form, but Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall had seen enough to know he was an elite player. They just needed to unlock his talent. Hall spent a lot of time working with Tindall and the rest of the coaching staff, and it has paid off. He is Newcastle’s first choice left-back and has become a real attacking outlet down that left-hand side, linking up well with Harvey Barnes, and Anthony Gordon before him. He has improved defensively, too. Now his next task will be to try and force his way back into the England team. He wants to learn every day and he wants to be better in every match. “Lewis covers ground in a way that few players can. He defends with maturity and intelligence, and his technical level means that he can support players higher up the pitch. “What excites me most is that I believe the best is still to come from Lewis. He has a lot of room to develop, and I am looking forward to working with him as he grows with us.”
