In İstanbul, the Serbian international is set to be reunited with Vincenzo Italiano, with whom he achieved breakthrough success at Fiorentina that prompted Juventus to splurge €75 million to bring him to Allianz Arena in 2022. Besiktas appear happy to offer a lucrative contract, and, arguably more importantly, Vlahovic is set to team up with Vincenzo Italiano again. The centre-forward played 168 matches for Juventus, recording 68 goals and 16 assists. He is now about to join Besiktas for a new challenge, meaning Spurs’ pool of striker options has further reduced. Vlahovic proved himself to be a quality goalscorer for both Fiorentina and Juventus in Serie A. An aggressive and physically intimidating striker, the Serb would have been a good tactical fit in De Zerbi’s system. His presence could have given the Lilywhites a focal point in attack, which we lacked perennially in the previous two campaigns. The news comes at the worst possible time for De Zerbi and his club, who are desperate to add goals, physicality and experience to Tottenham’s attack.
