Nick Woltemade joined Juventus from Newcastle United late in the summer transfer window. Now, he can find himself in a strange tactical situation once again. This was largely because they signed Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who has pretty much come in as a replacement for Woltemade. The ex-Stuttgart man made his first appearance for Juve against AC Milan at the weekend. His impact was clear to see, as he caused chaos when Juve needed a goal and they did equalise late in the tie. Our take: Magpies made the same mistake Last season, Eddie Howe also used Woltemade deep at Newcastle United. This helped neither the player, nor the club and the 24-year-old can find himself in the same scenario again. His technical skillset does allow him to play in attacking midfield but it isn’t where his best comes. He is better at receiving in the final third, linking up play and scoring goals. The experiment could work out for Juve but it is unlikely to help Woltemade long term. Newcastle United should also be alert to this, as the entire point of the dry loan is to improve the player.
