Benfica optimistic over bonuses The newspaper reports the additional €5m (£4.3m) is linked to a series of achievable milestones. Those include António Silva establishing himself as a regular starter for Bournemouth (number of starts), the length of time he remains at the club and the Cherries qualifying for European competitions. A Bola suggest Benfica believe those conditions are attainable given Bournemouth’s long-term plans for the defender. The newspaper notes the Premier League side qualified for the Europa League this season. And of course they finished just three points short of the Champions League places. So this reinforces the belief that European qualification bonuses are far from unrealistic. Investment backed by Bournemouth The structure of the deal also reflects Bournemouth’s confidence in António Silva. The Cherries have consistently viewed the 22-year-old as a player capable of becoming an important part of Marco Rose’s side. That surely explains why Benfica negotiated a package that rewards both appearances and the club’s continued progress.
