Key points:
- Dana White says the venue and television deals for Fury vs. Joshua are finalised
- He credits TKO Group, Zuffa Boxing’s parent company, with negotiating both agreements
- Madison Square Garden remains the reported frontrunner venue, with Netflix broadcasting
- Eddie Hearn has pushed for a UK venue instead, and no official date has been confirmed
Dana White says two of the biggest obstacles standing between fans and a Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua fight have already been cleared, claiming both the venue and broadcast deals are done.
“We’re the ones that have done all the deals for this fight,” White told Sky Sports. “I did the deal for the venue, that’s why I know where the venue is. I did the deal. We at TKO did the deal for television and we did everything.” White stopped short of naming the location, but reports have consistently pointed to Madison Square Garden, with Netflix lined up to broadcast a fight increasingly expected to land in November.
That timeline puts White at odds with Eddie Hearn, who has argued the fight belongs in Britain and said as recently as this week that he expects terms to be finalised by the end of August. White brushed off the promotional tug-of-war entirely. “What I’ve noticed is in the boxing business since I’ve been in it for a very short period of time, six months, the promoters’ egos are actually more important than the fights themselves and giving the fight fans the fights they want to see,” he said.
Both heavyweights have a combined 14 world title fight victories, and the matchup remains commercially compelling even with both men past their absolute peak. No official date or venue has been confirmed by either camp.
