Roma have allowed Angeliño to leave on loan to his hometown club Deportivo after their return to La Liga. Angeliño originally joined Roma on loan from RB Leipzig in January 2024 and made a good enough impression to earn a permanent transfer and the regular starting role for the 2024-25 season. He played in all 38 of Roma’s Serie A matches that season, before his playing time took a serious hit in 2025-26. There remains an element of mystery as to why, with reports pointing to health issues but the player himself appearing to deny the severity of anything. Alas, he only played in seven Serie A games last season and won’t be part of the Roma squad for the new campaign. Angeliño comes from the province of A Coruña in northwestern Spain, where Deportivo are based. Following their promotion back into La Liga, they have taken the 29-year-old Angeliño for what will actually be his first taste of top-flight football in his home country, having previously only played in Spain’s second tier. Deportivo will have an option to buy Angeliño at the end of the loan spell, reportedly for just €2m.
