Tottenham winger Mykhailo Mudryk is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury in training. Mykhailo Mudryk arrived at Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day, surprising both sets of fans. The 25-year-old attacker made his first competitive appearance in 18 months when he came on as a substitute in Tottenham’s 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest at City Ground. He was handed 17 minutes to make an impact but couldn’t do much on his return to action. However, the Ukrainian now faces a spell on the sidelines. Recent reports suggest that Mykhailo Mudryk has suffered an ankle injury in training. It has been revealed that the winger is likely to be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks, and after only making his debut for Spurs last weekend, the injury setback couldn’t have come at a worse time for the player. Seven matches Mykhailo Mudryk could miss for Tottenham It was initially suggested that the fresh ankle injury would keep Mudryk out of action until after the international break, but it turns out the injury is more serious. If the Ukrainian international is sidelined for eight weeks, he will miss several important games for the Lilywhites starting from the weekend’s home fixture against Everton. After that, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Coventry City, Chelsea and Crystal Palace would be the Premier League clashes Mudryk could miss in the next two months. He will also be unavailable for next week’s third-round Carabao Cup encounter against Liverpool at Anfield. Losing Mudryk for around two months significantly limits Tottenham’s tactical flexibility in attack. The 25-year-old was brought in from Chelsea to provide penetration, pace, directness and flair to the attacking unit, whilst adding much-needed in N17. However, Roberto De Zerbi will now be required to deal with and adjust to the circumstances for the next couple of months. With Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons out with ACL ruptures, Mathys Tel is currently the only other natural left-winger at the Italian tactician’s disposal. So, De Zerbi has to manage Tel’s game time and fitness carefully, whilst slowly increasing Mohamed Kudus’ minutes on the pitch. This injury thus genuinely sets Mudryk back, as we may not be able to see him in action until the start of November. Meanwhile, the North Londoners look to register their first win of the Premier League season on Saturday when they welcome Everton. And this fixture will be the first of many games Mudryk will miss, with his hopes of relaunching his career at Tottenham dashed by the latest ankle problem.
