AEW’s Will Ospreay says that he and Kenny Omega may never have another match following their clash at All In: London
AEW World Champion Will Ospreay recently appeared on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast. While discussing his epic match against Kenny Omega at All In: London, Ospreay said they might never clash in the ring again.
Will Ospreay Casts Doubt On Ever Facing Kenny Omega Again
They are currently tied with two wins each in their rivalry, and Will Ospreay is perfectly fine with leaving it that way. Kenny Omega won their first two matches in PWG (2015) and NJPW (2023). Ospreay won the next two at Forbidden Door 2023 and All In 2026.
“I don’t think we’ll ever have another match. I think that’s it. And it’s poetic for me because now you look at it, and in all my promos leading up to it, the only thing that I’ve ever said is, ‘I’ve just wanted to be your equal.’ We’re tied, and I’m perfectly fine with that,” Will Ospreay said.
The AEW World Champion Hopes Kenny Omega Continues To Compete In Big Matches In The Future
Speaking further, Will Ospreay commented on whether Kenny Omega is gradually winding up his career. He said people don’t realize the toll it takes on Omega to prepare for such big matches due to his previous battle with diverticulitis. While he wants to believe Omega will continue to have significant matches in the future, he said it is a question for Vliet to ask The Best Bout Machine directly.
“I think people need to realize how much of a toll it takes on Kenny after his illness, and I don’t know the preparation that he done to get into this match, but there were a few shows that he couldn’t do because of how he’s feeling. I want to believe that he’s still going to be doing some type of big matches, but at that level, I really do not know,” Ospreay continued.
“That’s a question that you probably will have to ask Kenny. But at 42 years old, for 10 years he’s been the best wrestler in the world. There was a symbolism from some anime show, a name escapes me from what it was, of a character passing down his powers to the next generation, and that was crazy. That is me,” Will Ospreay said.
