Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are longtime rivals going back to their time competing against each other at the college level. Now, the two are teammates for Team USA at the FIBA Women’s World Cup in Germany. And despite their rivalry, it sounds like they’re enjoying it. After a dominant win over Hungary on Thursday, Reese opened up about the growing relationship with Clark that was on display during the game. ‘We continue to build chemistry’ During Thursday’s quarterfinal win over Hungary, Team USA combined for more than 30 assists as a team, setting a new quarterfinal record for the tournament. Several of those assists came between Clark and Reese, leading Reese to be asked about that connection after the game. “I mean, we’ve played against each other so many times. I’m sure we know each other’s game like the back of each other’s hand,” Reese said on Thursday. “I dish it off to her; she dishes it off to me. She knows my spots. I kinda got one to her today, or maybe two.” While the two might be longtime rivals, Reese understands that the two will be teammates on Team USA at the international level for quite a while. “It’s fun,” Reese added. “We just continue to build chemistry because we know we’re going to be USA teammates for a while.” Clark Praised Reese During an interview this week, Clark had some high praise Reese despite their longtime rivalry as she revealed some things that she admires about the Atlanta Dream star. “We’re both fiery, fiery competitors and we want to win and it’s one of the things I really admire about [Reese’s] game,” Clark told the Associated Press. “She’s competitive and she has a tremendous motor, like she has one of the best motors in the league. She works just as hard as anybody on the court. So, it’s been fun to be able to play with her.” Clearly, the two have been able to put their rivalry aside throughout the World Cup.
