Increased participation numbers, the professionalisation of competitions and growing interest from supporters and media have helped establish Spanish women's football as a global leader. The Spanish Women’s National Team's FIFA Women's World Cup triumph in 2023 was a landmark moment that has accelerated the growth of women’s football and continues to inspire thousands of girls and young women across the country to pursue their football ambitions on and off the pitch. A shared commitment to growing women’s football As women's football continues to thrive, C.D. Leganés has made significant strides in developing its own women's programme. The club has seen substantial growth in both the number of teams and players within its pathway, creating more opportunities for women and girls to develop and compete at all levels of the game. Ontime Butarque Stadium, home of C.D. Leganés has become a leading venue for women’s football in Spain, with a number of high-profile matches being hosted at the ground. Recent years have seen the stadium host matches played by the Spanish women’s national team, as well as the final stages of top-level competitions such as the Copa de la Reina and the Spanish Super Cup, helping to improve the visibility of women’s football. Working together to drive inclusion and visibility Through this new partnership, Her Game Too and the C.D. Leganés Foundation will collaborate on a range of initiatives designed to promote the presence of women in football, create increasingly inclusive environments and help break down barriers that still exist within the game.
