Actor Jamie Foxx is a huge fan of Philadelphia 76ers superstar LeBron James, and he didn’t take kindly to comments made by former NBA player Tim Thomas on the Straight Game Podcast. Thomas was asked to share his list of the top five players ever and appeared to give his all-time starting five instead. “Man, I’mma go Kobe [Bryant] at the one,” Thomas said. “I’ll put [Michael Jordan] at the two. I’ll put [Larry] Bird at the three. I’ll probably go [Hakeem] Olajuwon at the four and go [Shaquille O’Neal] at the five.” It was then pointed out to Thomas that everyone listening would say he left out a certain active player. He refused to put James in there, though. “Well, because everybody has an opinion,” Thomas said. “There’s a lot of guys that’s left off that list that’s great.” Everyone is indeed entitled to their opinion. Foxx, though, bluntly stated that Thomas and his opinion are disqualified. “That disqualifies him and his opinion if he doesn’t put LeBron James in the equation, he’s an official hater,” Foxx commented. Foxx then appeared to share an all-time starting five to take down Thomas’ lineup. “Magic Johnson at the one, Dwyane Wade at the two, LeBron James at the three, Tim Duncan at the four, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at the five,” Foxx commented. We know that’s not Foxx’s all-time lineup because he has said Michael Jordan is the GOAT. The 58-year-old did add, though, that James is the best basketball player ever. Foxx has been one of James’ loudest defenders. He once said that if his friend came up with a cure for cancer, his critics would bring up diabetes. Foxx also claimed that James has carried this “bum-a** league” for 20 years. There is little doubt about where his allegiances lie. Now, the players Thomas picked are undoubtedly great, too. Kobe Bryant won five titles, two Finals MVPs, one MVP, and two scoring titles. Bryant also made 18 All-Star, 15 All-NBA, and 12 All-Defensive teams. Next to Bryant in the backcourt is Jordan, who won six titles, six Finals MVPs, five MVPs, one DPOY, and 10 scoring titles. He made 14 All-Star, 11 All-NBA, and nine All-Defensive teams. Foxx called Jordan the GOAT, and he is the most popular pick. Moving on to the frontcourt, Larry Bird slots in at small forward. Bird won three titles, two Finals MVPs, and three MVPs. He made 12 All-Star, 10 All-NBA, and three All-Defensive teams. He was widely regarded as the greatest small forward before James came along. Thomas’ pick at power forward is Hakeem Olajuwon, who won two titles, two Finals MVPs, one MVP, two DPOYs, and two rebounding titles. Olajuwon made 12 All-Star, 12 All-NBA, and nine All-Defensive teams. Lastly, we get to Shaquille O’Neal, who won five titles, three Finals MVPs, one MVP, and two scoring titles. O’Neal made 15 All-Star, 14 All-NBA, and three All-Defensive teams. Those are some fabulous resumes, and each of those players deserves a lot of respect. There is no one really out of place. That said, James has won four titles, four Finals MVPs, four MVPs, one scoring title, and one rebounding title. The 41-year-old’s incredible longevity has seen him become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, and he has also made 22 All-Star, 21 All-NBA, and six All-Defensive teams. James is widely viewed as a top-two player of all time and should be in any all-time lineup.
