Netflix has created four new spots to promote its four NFL gamedays this season, beginning with Thursday night’s 49ers-Rams game from Australia. The spots, directed by Peter Berg, will debut during the Melbourne game. Pregame coverage of that matchup begins at 6:30pm ET Thursday night, with an 8:30pm kickoff. The feel of the spots reflects Berg’s work on “Friday Night Lights,” including narration by actor Kyle Chandler. Berg is also teaming with Netflix on the feature film “The Mosquito Bowl,” which releases Nov. 25 and tells the story of four of America’s top college football stars enlist as Marines after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Pat McAfee appears in the film as a drill sergeant, while 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey trains the football-playing cast. The other Netflix spots will debut around the other games, which are on Thanksgiving Eve (Packers-Rams on Nov. 25), the Christmas doubleheader (Packers-Bears and Bills-Broncos) and a Week 18 game on Jan. 9 (matchup TBD). Each spot will have a different focus.
