Sammy Braybrooke wants to build on his first Leicester City start ahead of the 2026/27 League One campaign. The midfielder made his long-awaited full debut for the club in the Carabao Cup against Northampton Town. Braybrooke made his debut for the Foxes in November 2022 when he came off the bench against Newport County. A serious knee injury forced him to miss an extended period of time before playing out on loan with Dundee, Newport and Chesterfield. The 22-year-old enjoyed a fine individual season last term, helping Chesterfield reach the League Two play-offs. He continued to impress throughout pre-season and earned rave reviews from City boss Russell Martin. "To finally get that full debut feels really good. I guess that’s what every kid dreams of once you sign here, so to finally get it done is very pleasing.” Martin has utilised academy players throughout pre-season, with Braybrooke joining Jayden Joseph and Will Alves in starting against Northampton. The City boss praised the midfielder and highlighted the potential of his young players. He said of Braybrooke: “He’s great. He grew into the game. How you play in pre-season and then competitively is very different, but I thought as the game went on, he was brilliant. "You can see how he can take the ball, can drive on with the game and I think the most exciting thing for us is we win and with the young guys in particular, they put in some good performances. But there is so much more to come from them. "There’s so much room for improvement and growth in the team and for us."
