Razhabali Shaidulloev defeated AJ McKee by unanimous decision at Super RIZIN 5 on Thursday to become the RIZIN and PFL featherweight champion. All three judges backed the unbeaten Kyrgyz fighter after their three-round main event at Kyocera Dome Osaka. Shaidulloev entered with RIZIN’s 145-pound belt, while McKee brought the PFL championship into the cross-promotional matchup. The victory pushed Shaidulloev to 20-0 and gave him his first professional win by decision after 19 consecutive finishes. Shaidulloev answered with an inside low kick, moved through a punching exchange and changed levels for the first major takedown of the fight. The RIZIN champion lifted McKee off the mat and established top position. McKee stayed active from his back, using a high guard and short elbows, but Shaidulloev controlled the location of the round and repeatedly created room for punches and elbows from above. That first round showed the central problem for McKee. He could score at long range, but Shaidulloev’s pressure forced him to defend clinches, takedowns and extended grappling exchanges. McKee reached the final bell, ending Shaidulloev’s career-long run of stoppages, but he could not take a scorecard. The Unbeaten Champion Added A Second Promotion’s Belt Shaidulloev’s win marked his fourth defense of the RIZIN featherweight title. He had stopped Kleber Koike Erbst, Viktor Kolesnik, Mikuru Asakura and Yutaka Kubo during his championship run before drawing the former Bellator champion in Osaka. The main event completed a matchup that placed both the RIZIN and PFL titles on the line. McKee had never been stopped in his professional career, and the decision made him the first opponent to last three full rounds with Shaidulloev. Earlier on the card, Ren Hiramoto returned to edge Karshyga Dautbek by split decision. RIZIN’s continued work with PFL also produced Sergio Pettis against Joji Goto for PFL Dubai, another cross-promotional fight scheduled for November 14.
