Hull City boss goes public on Zan Vipotnik transfer bid after making move

Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic says he's not sure the club will return with an improved bid for Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik. The Swans batted away an offer from the Tigers earlier this week, which WalesOnline understands was in excess of £10m. For now, Swansea appear to be holding firm on their valuation of the 24-year-old, which is currently believed to be around £20m. Vipotnik was the top scorer in the Championship last season, netting 25 goals for the Swans in all competitions. He also scored three times for his country. The Slovenian's exploits have predictably attracted a fair amount of attention in this transfer window. West Ham United have been monitoring the situation since January, while Portuguese giants Benfica have previously held initial discussions. French side Strasbourg have also shown an interest, but it's Hull, recently promoted to the Premier League, that have moved to test the Swans with an actual bid. Hull boss Jakirovic briefly worked with Vipotnik at Slovenian side Maribor before his departure in 2020. But having seen that initial offer knocked back, he has suggested a second approach is now unlikely. "Yes but [it was] not enough and that's it," he told BBC Radio Humberside. "Two days ago we send a bid and they reject it." When asked about the prospect of the Tigers making a second bid he added: "I don't know. I think no." *Follow all of our social channels to ensure you stay up to date with the latest Swans news. Sign up to our daily newsletter here and our WhatsApp channel here.
