However, that series, like the two previous ones, ended with a costly mistake by the former third overall draft pick. And yet, his teammates made sure not to pin the defeat on Maye. “It’s not on one person at all,” said running back Rhamondre Stevenson. “This is a team game. We win together and we lose together. I wouldn’t pinpoint on one single person in that room. We all have to get better. Back to the drawing board and figure it out.” “I have the utmost confidence in him,” added wide receiver Romeo Doubs, the target on the first of Maye’s three INTs. “I know what he can do. I’ve watched him and what he’s done in this league a long time, and, like I said, this doesn’t define him. It’s just this league, it’s always a pendulum in this league.” The message of support did not only come out of the offense. The Patriots defense echoed those remarks as well. “We have all the confidence in the world in Drake,” said cornerback Carlton Davis. “He’s our guy. We are going to stick together right now, and we’ll move forward.”
