Being a normal American, I watched the Seahawks beat the Patriots last night in the NFL Season opener. So I slept late this morning. I did not watch the convention. I went back and watched the highlights. I’m not sure a $5000.00 payment from the government, costing over $1.3 trillion, is the selling point the President thinks it is when we have a $40 trillion national debt. You know what you could do instead? You could zero out taxes on married parents of dependents whose household incomes are up to $200,000.00 for over ten years. In other words, you would be avoiding putting parents on welfare, letting them keep their money, and incentivizing marriage and children — exactly what this Administration says it wants to do — without turning stay-at-home moms and married couples into welfare queens dependent on the largesse of other Americans whose wealth would be confiscated and redistributed. Overall, the night did not harm the GOP. I’m not sure it was necessary. But it was fine. The football game was better and a reminder that we can choose normalcy, but both parties would rather perform for our attention. There is another football game tonight.
