Hide Meison Usami dropped “Black Panther” Beynoah twice in the third round to win their open-finger-glove kickboxing bout by unanimous decision at Super RIZIN 5 on Thursday in Osaka. The result opened a card built around Razhabali Shaidulloev and A.J. McKee fighting for the RIZIN and PFL featherweight titles. All three judges scored the 71-kilogram fight 30-25 for Usami. The three-round contest took place at Kyocera Dome Osaka under RIZIN open-finger-glove kickboxing rules. Usami pressed forward behind low kicks and front kicks, then changed levels with straight punches to the body and head. Beynoah circled away from the pressure and denied Usami a clean finishing sequence. Beynoah took more ground in Round 2. He attacked the lead leg, landed a right hook and continued moving after each exchange. Usami answered with calf kicks and stayed close enough to force another round at punching range. The scorecards swung decisively in Round 3. Usami caught Beynoah stepping forward with a right hook for the first knockdown. He later caught a low kick and drove a straight punch through the middle for another count. Beynoah reached the final bell, but two knockdowns left no doubt on the judges’ cards. All Three Judges Returned 30-25 Scorecards The win kept Usami unbeaten in professional kickboxing after he entered the event at 9-0-2. It also gave RIZIN an emphatic opener after the promotion’s previous major show produced Shoko Sato’s decision over Patchy Mix at RIZIN 54. Super RIZIN 5 is the first event since Nobuyuki Sakakibara publicly argued that unified MMA rules limit the sport. The opener used RIZIN’s open-finger-glove kickboxing format, allowing Usami and Beynoah to trade with smaller gloves without takedowns or ground fighting.
