Scott Brown hailed Mika Baur for his Celtic performance in his side’s narrow win over St Johnstone – hailing it as the best he has shown as a Hoops player this season. The Germany under-21s international was one of the club’s standouts against the Saints at McDiarmid Park and he scored the winning goal in the second-half as the clock ticked down. It was a strong showing from the former Paderborn midfield player and Brown was impressed at full-time. Speaking in the immediate aftermath of the action, former club captain Broony applauded the summer signing and credited him with the victory. And the 41-year-old was adamant that Baur showed his best self since he arrived on a £6.5million fee earlier in the summer transfer window. Brown said: “I think in the second-half Celtic had a lot more opportunities and they were a little bit more direct with their running power in behind as well. “They caused a lot more problems and I thought Mika Baur was really good today. “I thought that was probably his best game in a Celtic jersey. Baur replaced Reo Hatate this summer who moved to Burnley in the EFL Championship and the player has taken a bit of time to fully bed himself into the Hoops way of thinking.
