A village cricket club hopes to boost its coaching facilities with the installation of an all-weather bowling track.
Farsley Cricket Club is seeking permission from the council for the netted space. A single-lane bowling surface would be laid within an enclosed practice area if planning permission is approved.
The club’s design report said: “Farsley Cricket Club is an established cricket ground serving Farsley and the surrounding west Leeds communities.
“The proposal is a small-scale, sport-led improvement.
“Its purpose is to provide a consistent, durable and safe practice facility for senior, junior and community cricket.”
The report said the proposal was within council planning policies and official Sport England guidance.
The installation would help boost health in the community and not displace any existing features of the cricket ground, the report said.
It added: “Its lightweight appearance, recessive materials and limited ground works respond appropriately to the context, while existing access and club facilities remain suitable.
“The scheme supports national and local objectives for health, community sport and high-quality recreational provision.”
Council officers are considering a full planning application, which is out for consultation until September 16.
Suggested conditions on planning permission include no external floodlighting unless approved separately and prompt repairs to damaged netting.
