The infamous three-way trade sent Luka Dončić, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris to the Lakers while the Mavs got Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round draft pick in return. Now, more than a year later, Trump is still talking about it. ‘Worst trade in the history of sports?’ During his speech on Wednesday night, Trump offered a scathing review of the trade, suggesting it might be the worst trade in history. “This is a big Dallas Mavericks team, which is gonna be hopefully good,” Trump said during his speech. “I must tell you, I don’t understand the trade. What do I know about basketball? I would say that’s not going to go down as the greatest trade in the history of sports. It might go down as the worst trade in the history of sports.” ‘We gotta redo it’ Trump went on to claim that the worst trade in the history of sports was actually the trade that sent Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees from the Boston Red Sox. He got many of the details wrong, but that’s forgivable considering the deal happened over 100 years ago.
