Britt Baker finally returned to the AEW ring on the Sept. 9 episode of Dynamite: Rebel Heart, ending a nearly two-year wait for another televised match. The emotional night, held in support of Rebel and her battle with ALS, gave Baker a chance to step back into action — but she didn’t do it alone. Baker teamed with Hikaru Shida and TBS Champion Persephone against Thunder Rosa, Hyan and Maya World in a six-woman tag team match. It was Baker’s first AEW TV match since Nov. 13, 2024, and the former Women’s World Champion had plenty of work to do before getting her hand raised. Baker and her teammates traded control throughout the roughly 10-and-a-half-minute contest. When Rosa began chasing Baker around ringside, Persephone changed the momentum by spearing Rosa, while World and Shida continued the fight elsewhere. Baker quickly turned the situation around, catching Hyan with a superkick before applying Lockjaw and forcing her to submit. The victory marked Baker’s first AEW TV win since returning at All In, where she aligned with Persephone. Her long-awaited return also came with a familiar face in her corner. Rebel, who returned earlier in the show, had “Roll Model” written across the back of her wheelchair as a playful twist on Baker’s nickname. After the match, Baker sat on Rebel’s lap as they rolled toward the stage and embraced, with Rebel becoming emotional. The special episode also featured a video package documenting Rebel’s AEW career and her ongoing battle with ALS. For Baker, the return puts her back inside the AEW ring after an extended absence.
