Ethan Page has made a bold claim about his fellow WWE wrestlers, branding everyone in the locker room a “liar” except himself.
The RAW Superstar believes most performers are far more concerned with money, attention, and their own egos than they would like the WWE Universe to believe. The irony of Page making these comments is obvious because his nickname is “All Ego.” However, he believes the nickname does not tell the whole story.
Ethan Page says everyone at WWE is a ‘liar’ except him
During a new interview with TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Page discussed the relationship between wrestlers and fans. According to the RAW star, real authenticity is rare in wrestling, with most performers willing to say whatever they need to get a reaction from fans.
Page claimed that he actually has the smallest ego in WWE because he is willing to admit that he has an ego instead of pretending otherwise. In his view, other wrestlers are simply better at hiding their motivations and creating an image that fans will connect with.
“No one wants to hear the truth, know the truth, understand the truth. In wrestling, it runs rampant. No one wants authenticity. No one wants genuine, honest, nothing. Ever. I have the smallest ego in all of the WWE. I’m just the only one that wears it on my sleeve… Everyone else in WWE is a liar,” Page said.
Page then took his argument further by saying that money is one of the biggest motivations for wrestlers. Since fans are the ones buying tickets, merchandise, and collectibles, he believes performers have to manipulate their audience to make money.
“How are you going to get this money from the customer? You manipulate them… Look, if I want to be the most loved guy in WWE, you give me three weeks, and I’ll figure it out. It’s manipulation,” Page said.
The former NXT Champion explained that he believes he could become one of WWE’s most popular stars if he simply focused on figuring out what fans wanted to hear. However, he insisted that is not why he is pursuing a career in wrestling.
“I’m not trying to make people love me, is my point. I’m not here to sell t-shirts. I’m here for my childhood fantasy of becoming the Intercontinental champion, then going on to becoming world champion, universal champion, Royal Rumble winner, King of the Ring winner, all that stuff. I’m gonna do all that stuff. That’s why I’m here,” Page explained.
“All Ego” then went on to claim that every other WWE wrestler is a “liar” except him.
“Everyone else is here for this [money], and to get this [their faces] put on billboards. It’s a very vain and ego-driven, ironically, and money. Money is big. They’re gonna lie to you to sell t-shirts. They’re gonna lie to you to sell action figures. They’re gonna lie to you to sell tickets. Everyone here is a liar, but me,” Page said.
