Celtic may have to move earlier than expected for Gvidas Gineitis, with RB Salzburg seriously stepping up their pursuit of the Torino midfielder. Italian transfer reporter Matteo Moretto has now provided another update on Salzburg’s interest. Speaking on YouTube, Moretto said: “Red Bull Salzburg is showing strong interest in Torino midfielder Gineitis, ready to make a significant offer, in addition to Celtic’s already well-known interest.” The latest developments come after Salzburg made their interest concrete, with Danny Rohl’s side now pushing to get ahead in the race. Moretto’s reporting on Salzburg’s interest has also been picked up in Scotland. One of the most interesting parts of the situation is Torino’s valuation. Earlier reports suggested the Serie A club could demand as much as €14-15 million for Gineitis. The latest reports now suggest Torino’s demands may have dropped even further, with around €8 million plus bonuses being mentioned. That would represent a significant change from some of the figures circulating earlier in the summer. Reports in July had suggested Celtic could need to go beyond £9 million simply to bring Torino to the negotiating table. There has also been a calmness around the possibility of the Lithuania international leaving Torino this summer if the right move becomes available. Gineitis is open to a move to Glasgow, while Celtic have already made contact regarding the midfielder. Much of Celtic’s position remains connected to Engels. The problem is that Salzburg may not be willing to wait. Rohl’s side are showing serious intent, and their push for Gineitis could force Celtic into making a decision sooner than they had originally expected.
