Mikel Arteta reflected on another victory for Arsenal as they beat Napoli 1-0 in Naples.
The Gunners scored a well worked goal through club captain Martin Odegaard on an evening when the chances were available to kill off the contest long before the breakthrough by the 75th minute.
· ‘Very, very happy, the way we attacked the game’
The Premier League reigning champions have now won 13 Champions League first phase fixtures in a row, and they have taken a step towards trying to top the league phase again after last campaign.
“Very, very happy, the way we attacked the game from the very first minute, the way we competed, the excitement that we had, how we had to attack them, how we had to disorganise them, the purpose, the quality, the amount of chances that we generated. The scoreline has to reflect a very different result.
“We will get there, because if we are a bit more precise, it will be much bigger, but to do what we've done today in this stadium against this opponent is remarkable from the team.
“If we generate more volume, we will score more goals. The number of players that got into this situation, the amount of situations that we were generating in various ways was something that pleased me a lot, and the fact that obviously it's 1-0 at the end.
“To suffer, they had that situation with Kevin De Bruyne inside the box, that any other day something different could have happened, but I'm really pleased, because we won the game, and I think we fully deserved to win.
“I think the hunger and desire of the team, and then each individual just putting his very best in every game, in every action, it's just a joy to watch. Every time we do it again, the way the team reacts, every time we have to try it back, even if it's a frustrating giveaway, it's just incredible.
“That's what's going to give us the opportunity to do what we want to win, and to win this kind of game, to be so good at doing these kinds of things.”
