DK Metcalf and the Pittsburgh Steelers are swiftly nearing the start of the 2026 NFL regular season. The coming season has them pushing to rebound after a disappointing 3-06 loss to the Houston Texans during the Wild Card round of the 2026 NFL playoffs. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Metcalf demonstrated a significantly strong relationship last season. Their partnership saw Metcalf finish with 59 receptions, while registering 850 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Rodgers, on the other hand, had 3,322 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. For the forty-two-year-old, that partnership isn’t restricted to the two. He recently described a working partnership that could similarly spring up between Pittman and Metcalf. They now have Mike McCarthy leading the charge and remotely supervising all subunit and cross-unit partnerships across the squad. One of those connections involves Pittman and Metcalf, according to Rodgers. He recently spoke on an anticipated partnership between Pittman and Metcalf as the season begins. You gotta do all the dirty work, means you gotta block, means you gotta run those intermediate routes. And, he’s gonna get some singles because I’m sure DK will get some rolled coverage his way. Even more, he has recently addressed a general camaraderie among the roster. The four-time NFL MVP player explained how teammates such as wide receivers DK Metcalf, Roman Wilson, Michael Pittman Jr., and Ben Skowronek, alongside tight end Pat Freiermuth and quarterback Mason Rudolph, shared crucial moments together. The Super Bowl XLV champion and MVP described the experience as a vulnerable one, during which the team shared activities like horseback riding, paddleboarding, and nightly campfires. He also went on to make personal revelations about Metcalf while praising the 28-year-old wide receiver’s talents. The 42-year-old appears reasonably content with the skill and comradeship across the team, as the side looks to maximize its season goals in 2026. With expectations that Metcalf would serve as a versatile threat in Mike McCarthy’s offense, Pittman could see plenty of chances to work underneath and in the intermediate areas of the pitch. Fortunately, Pittman can also line up at multiple spots in the Steelers’ receiving corps. While playing most of his snaps on the boundary in 2025, he also registered significant work from the slot. This versatility could become handy for the Steelers, especially as he teams up with other players on the offense in 2026. Pittsburgh will begin the 2026 NFL regular season with a home opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. ET at Acrisure Stadium.
