Ahead of his regular-season debut in Niners threads, Evans received an honest assessment from San Francisco star tight end George Kittle, who praised the veteran wide receiver for getting the job done in practice. “Since he’s been here, specifically this week, and being out of practice with him, we call all these plays for him. And let’s just say, for example, he has some type of widened post, and the coaching points are, ‘Hey, you have to be the bottom edge of the numbers by 15 to 20 yards, and you have to keep it high and inside,’ right? The 33-year-old Evans is easily one of the best wide receivers of his generation, but he’s not done adding to his Pro Football Hall of Fame-worthy resume. After 12 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Evans tested the free agency market and signed a three-year, $42.4 million contract with the Niners in March. Now healthy, Evans is eyeing a great first season with San Francisco after playing in only eight games with the Buccaneers in 2025 and racking up just 368 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 30 receptions.
