Hull City and Ipswich Town have been linked with a move for Breel Embolo, who is now attracting interest from Bournemouth.
The striker, now at Rennes, made his mark at the World Cup once again. He found the net twice for the Swiss national team and also assisted two goals, proving key in their march towards the quarter-finals of the competition.
Right after the World Cup, Sport Witness covered that Hull City and Ipswich Town made contact for the player. The report mirrored a growing belief that Rennes can’t stop the forward from leaving, if he really harbours the wish to depart.
The noise around Embolo is now growing, with Bournemouth also in the chase.
England would be a desirable destination
Calciomercato note that the list of suitors for the Switzerland man is growing. He’s attracted interest from AC Milan and Napoli, with the Rossoneri having specifically contacted his entourage about a possible deal.
Embolo clearly welcomes a move to Italy, but he also wants a switch to England. Bournemouth want him, and the outlet use that interest to warn the Rossoneri.
Milan have ascertained that Rennes need €15m to sell the striker. Ruben Amorim’s side may find difficulty in paying that amount, as things stand. They need Rafael Leao to depart to finance another attacking incoming but the Portuguese gone yet.
Santiago Gimenez’s exit can also come in handy, however, the Mexican remains with the Italian giants, leaving Bournemouth as a major candidate for Embolo.
Our take: Agents looking around
Previously, it has been clear that Rennes won’t object to. Breel Embolo’s exit. Due to his performances at the World Cup, it won’t be a surprise if Embolo’s entourage is trying to engineer a big move.
The information about Bournemouth also likely comes from his agents, who leaked it during contact with Milan. That also explains the links with Ipswich Town and Hull City.
Embolo is now 29 and this could be his last chance to get a big move. He is someone who had a great reputation during his younger days at Schalke. A move to England now could see him fulfil a part of that potential. He is absolutely a gamble worth taking.
