If you’ve ever wondered what to wear courtside at a tennis game, let Paige Paul be your guide. The WAG (who’s married to American tennis player Tommy Paul) and founder of Dairy Boy has nailed the sporty-and-casual dress code. Her style advice? Have fun with it, especially at the U.S. Open. “Tennis is a very fashionable sport, so being self-expressive and wearing what you want is definitely welcomed,” Paul says, citing athletes Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka as examples. Paul spends her time testing out new products for her brand; she’s currently working on cashmere sweaters and falling into eBay and Etsy rabbit holes. “You may not be looking for a pair of shoes, but when you see a good pair of shoes, go to the seller — they’ll probably have dresses and denim too,” she explains. Below, see where she got the pieces that made their way into her curated closet and home. Where did you get the item you’ve had for the longest time? Hanes boxers from Target. I’ve been wearing them since high school. I also love Dairy Boy pajamas. We do a lot, and I really love them. Where did you get your most recent purchase? My vintage denim jacket is from Etsy. I got it for the U.S. Open. It’s a sporty denim jacket from one of my favorite shoe sellers who happened to have a jacket. I’m really excited about it. I think tennis has become such a fun sporting event for people to dress up. Since tennis has this allure around it of being a little bit polished and preppy, people think you have to wear that to every tournament. Every Grand Slam has a different code and vibe of what people wear, and it’s really reflective of the city. If I were to give anyone advice for dressing for the U.S. Open, I’d say it’s sort of sporty New York style. It’s laid-back and more casual, but you can still dress up. Something cool about tennis is that sometimes people will dress up really formal and some people will wear gym clothes and either is totally fine. But if you want to have fun with it, tennis is a very fashionable sport, so being self-expressive and wearing what you want is definitely welcomed. People like Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff are doing very fun looks. Where did you get the item you wear the most? Clinique Black Honey. I have one at my desk and one in my purse. I don’t need lip liner with it, which is really nice. It’s so easy, buildable, and universally flattering. It looks good on everyone. You don’t need to be wearing a full face of makeup with it. It’s definitely been my staple for years, so it’s so cool to have a campaign with them. New! You can now save this product for later. Where did you get your favorite piece of clothing? My wedding dress was Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera. It was custom, and I didn’t try on any other wedding dresses; that was the one. I knew when I saw his sketch. It was such an amazing collaborative process. I think the fact that it was custom-made felt so special, and it will forever be the most special piece of clothing for me. I tried on some things from the archives. I tried on some in different colors, and then I decided on the details. I always knew what I wanted the silhouette to look like. I wanted my dress to be a modern take on a classic bridal look, and Carolina was the best house to do that with. Where did you get what’s on your nightstand? On my nightstand, I keep a Bible, a vase full of flowers, and my HydroJug. I can fill it with ice and water and it will stay cold for two days. I’m a big routine person in general — it really grounds me and makes me feel like I’m at home wherever I am. I also think it sets you up for a good sleep and a good morning. It’s very much about controlling the controllable. Control your routines at home, and whatever life throws at you, at least you have that. It’s an important part of self -care and mental health. It’s a very homey, floral scent that’s a little bit mature, which was the goal, and I’m glad we were able to accomplish that. It was a long process of a lot of different sampling. I fell in love with some other scents as well, and that made it hard narrowing it down. After wearing it, smelling it, and living with it, it was clear which one reminded me of the brand and my home. It was fun — I work in the digital landscape and I have a clothing brand, but the beauty category was pretty new to me. It was unbelievable working with a partner to create the fragrance. They have a whole farm in France, and it was interesting learning about what goes into making the fragrance. Where did you get your favorite pair of shoes? Ariat. I have a few pairs of cowboy boots. One pair is a work boot, and the others are going-out boots. My mom gave the going-out boots to me, and she had broken them in already. My work boots are Ariat, and they’re cheetah print. I’ve had them for four years. They’re so fun and cute. Cowboy boots are something you keep forever and wear in. It’s a labor of love. Where did you get your favorite item to layer? Hanes tank tops and cashmere. I love the white tank top. We’ve been developing a Dairy Boy cashmere sweater, so I love ours, but I also love Guest in Residence. I’ll always love a Polo classic men’s cashmere sweater. They have a boxy, thinner cashmere. It’s worth investing in closet staples like good cashmere sweaters any time of year. New! Where did you get your couch? Pottery Barn and vintage. A lot of my furniture is reupholstered vintage, which has been really fun to make my own. I also got my bed from Pottery Barn, and I had it reupholstered to match my curtain. It’s an easy hack if you don’t want something that everyone else has. I think my personal style and décor style are a reflection of each other; they’re very similar. I do have more fun shopping for home stuff than for clothes. I like shopping at John Derian. They source a lot of vintage, and they also have pottery. It’s probably my favorite home store — I’ve bought a lot from there.
