Huddersfield Town 'in advanced talks' with Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall and Portsmouth-linked Archie Collins
Huddersfield Town are said to be making progress on the recruitment front
Huddersfield Town are reportedly in advanced talks over a deal to sign free agent Archie Collins.
The 26-year-old has been unattached since the end of the 2025/26 season, when his three-year spell at Peterborough United came to an end.
He was a key figure for Posh, establishing himself as one of the most revered midfielders in League One over the course of his 159 outings.
Huddersfield were linked with Collins earlier in the summer, but the former Exeter City star was also said to be of interest to a raft of other clubs.
Among those credited with interest alongside Huddersfield were fellow League One outfit Sheffield Wednesday and Championship clubs Millwall, Watford and Portsmouth.

However, according to Football Insider reporter Pete O’Rourke, it is Huddersfield who are making progress in talks with Collins.
Posting on X, he said: “Understand Huddersfield are in advanced talks to sign former Peterborough star Archie Collins on a free transfer.”
Collins would arguably be a shrewd addition to the Huddersfield ranks, which have been bolstered by six senior signings so far this summer.
Huddersfield Town preparing for a new campaign
Goalkeeper Matty Young has arrived on loan from Sunderland and permanent deals have been struck for Ilias Bronkhorst, Ibane Bowat, Ethan Brierley, Derensili Sanches Fernandes and Ashley Fletcher.
Huddersfield are due to kick off their League One campaign on Saturday (August 15), hosting AFC Wimbledon at the Accu Stadium.
After his side’s Carabao Cup loss to Preston North End at the weekend, Terriers boss Martin Drury said: “We get back to work immediately and we start looking at next week, what that looks like, how we think we can go about the game to win the game, the same way that we did today.
“I'd say it's disappointment today that we've drawn the game when we felt we were in the ascendency and we should have won the game. But we'll take positives from today and the things that we want to improve and develop.”
