It’s officially like Christmas week for many die-hard fans as the latest NFL rumors are intensifying, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers possibly agreeing to a trade. While former first-round pick Xavier Legette doesn’t show much to offer, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox projects that he should have a market entering the upcoming campaign. Originally selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, the former South Carolina product was close to being phased out until the 2026 draft pick Chris Brazzell suffered a season-ending injury. However, Knox thinks a trade could still happen given the Panthers have a strong depth group behind him: “If Jalen Coker can stay healthy and free-agent addition John Metchie III can force himself into a prominent role, the Panthers could quickly decide to cash in Legette for draft capital. Teams looking to add a 6’1″, 221-pound pass-catcher with 4.39 speed should be willing to take a chance on him,” he said. NFL Rumors: Chiefs, Panthers Connected in Massive $12M Trade Mahomes’ New Weapon? Entering the 2026 campaign, the Chiefs could use another dynamic playmaker. Kansas City did not sign or trade for a new wide receiver, sticking with Xavier Worthy and Tyquan Thornton in hopes of keeping the receiving unit stable. Unfortunately, Worthy is coming off an injury-riddled season, so perhaps Legette could be an immediate low-risk fit. LWOS Projected Trade Value While Knox projects the Panthers’ wideout is worth a conditional 2027 fifth-rounder, he could be net better draft capital at the right moment. Kansas City would have to knock on wood, but if they lose Worthy or Rice during the 2026 season, they could offer a fourth-round selection. The same goes for these other five teams, who could consider the wideout right before the postseason. Other Possible Suitors for Legette in the next pages
