This time around the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Max Iheanachor has been added to the list of such victims whose home was robbed in daylight. What adds spice to this incident is its timing, considering that Iheanachor was set to travel to Buffalo. The robbers reportedly entered his home in the Mount Washington area and stole up to $200,000 worth of jewelry and designer bags. Police have not made any arrests yet and are investigating the case. Max Iheanachor Joins Growing List Of NFL Burglary Victims The police were summoned to the house on August 26 when the inhabitants came back and found the garage door open and a smashed window through which a rock had been thrown. They left at 10:30 a.m. with all the doors closed and the garage locked. Hence, the offensive tackle was not at his house when the robbery occurred. On August 27, Iheanachor made his preseason debut against the Bills. However, no evidence has come forth regarding any connection between the incident and an organized group; however, the timing of the event surely puts another athlete in the list of several other professional athletes whose houses were robbed while the athletes were away from their respective homes. Some of the famous players of the NFL league whose homes were burglarized include Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Joe Burrow. The investigators eventually found out that several of the burglaries had been orchestrated by a South American crime syndicate, with seven individuals charged in connection with burglaries targeting athletes. Saquon Barkley has also experienced an attempted home invasion back in July. It was reported that one individual broke into Barkley’s home while he and his family members were inside. Luckily, nobody was injured in the process, and nothing was stolen either. Athletes’ schedules are often public knowledge. Road games, travel days, and team obligations can make it easier for criminals to figure out when a high-profile home may be empty. For rookies such as Iheanachor himself, that can be an especially difficult reality to adjust to while also dealing with the demands of an NFL career. The burglary is also another unwanted interruption for the Steelers’ first-round pick. Iheanachor missed the Steelers’ first two preseason games with an injury and entered the season behind Dylan Cook at right tackle. Head coach Mike McCarthy has praised his ability but stressed the importance of availability, particularly for a rookie trying to earn playing time. Now, before the rookie can fully focus on establishing himself in the Steelers, he has another problem to deal with. His home was hit.
