Pakistan’s junior hockey teams continued their strong campaign in China, with the men securing a fourth straight win by defeating Bangladesh 3-0, while the women advanced to the quarterfinals after holding Kazakhstan to a 1-1 draw. The junior men’s side completed the group stage at the top of the standings without suffering a defeat, setting up a semifinal against South Korea on Friday. Pakistan made their attacking intent clear against Bangladesh and took an early lead through Rana Waleed. The forward struck twice in quick succession, finding the net in the ninth and 12th minutes to put Pakistan 2-0 ahead. Bangladesh struggled to break through Pakistan’s organised defence as the Pakistani side continued to control the match and search for another goal. The third goal finally arrived in the 52nd minute when Ghulam Mustafa finished a well-built attacking move, effectively sealing Pakistan’s 3-0 victory. The fourth consecutive success keeps Pakistan unbeaten and gives them considerable confidence heading into Friday’s semifinal, where they will battle South Korea for a place in the final. Pakistan’s junior women, meanwhile, secured their knockout-stage berth after earning a valuable 1-1 draw against Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan moved ahead in the 15th minute when Aman Geldi Zhansaya converted a field goal, leaving Pakistan trailing for much of the contest. The Pakistani side continued to push for an equaliser and eventually got their reward late in the match. Captain Shariqa Sarwar found the net in the 55th minute to restore parity. Neither team could produce a decisive goal before the final whistle, but the result was enough for Pakistan to book their place in the quarterfinals.
