Hull FC are set to make a splash signing for 2027, with reports down under suggesting that NRL legend Daly Cherry-Evans will make a Super League switch. The 37-year-old had been expected to retire at the end of the season, but fresh reports have indicated that he will make the move to Super League, with Hull FC his likely home. That report, from Australia’s The Daily Telegraph, comes just days after Sky Sports pundit Sam Tomkins suggested that St Helens should break the bank to sign the veteran as a 2027 halves partner for young star Harry Robertson. Instead, it would appear that Cherry-Evans could be set to become the playing partner of Jake Arthur at Hull FC. Hull FC set to make shock signing of NRL legend Cherry-Evans, who will turn 38 in February, was a one-club man until 2026, with the veteran having represented Manly Sea Eagles from 2011 until last year. He’d make over 350 appearances for them before signing for Sydney Roosters this year, whom, alongside Sam Walker, he has helped to second in the NRL. Cherry-Evans has played 20 times for the Roosters, but the demands of a 27-game Super League season with the addition of Challenge Cup games would present a different challenge, especially considering he will be among the oldest players in the competition. Hull FC currently have club captain Aidan Sezer signed for 2027 and set to play in the halves with Jake Arthur, though there have previously been suggestions that he may leave his contract early. Thus far, Hull FC have only signed one player for 2027, with the club recently confirming a deal for Leigh Leopards’ Bailey Hodgson.
