MORE than 100 runners took part in the Dromara Drumlins 5k/10k Challenge last Thursday, organised by Dromara GAC in association with Northern Ireland Hospice. The 5k and 10k races took place against the scenic backdrop of the Dromara countryside, with participants competing while helping to raise funds for NI Hospice. The local charity provides specialist symptom management and end-of-life care to more than 4,000 children and adults each year across Northern Ireland, both in its Belfast hospice and in patients’ own homes. Philip Goss won the men’s 10k in 36:07, with Peter Davidson second in 38:06 and David Smyth third in 39:41. The women’s 10k was won by Sharon Madine in 48:01, followed by Nicole Megoran in 55:23 and Karen Tweedie in 57:12. In the men’s 5k, Ciaran Brennan took first place in 17:26, ahead of Trevor Woodside in 19:21 and Matthew Fitzsimons in 19:46. Breige Russell won the women’s 5k in 20:55, with Ciara Coffey second in 22:25 and Bethany Coulter third in 23:54. Dromara GAC thanked all the runners, volunteers and local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle, helping to make the event a resounding success.
