AFC Bournemouth got their first win under new boss Marco Rose last night after thumping Championship side, Lincoln City, 4-0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup. A hat-trick from Scottish international, Ryan Christie, sent the Cherries on their way to the next round before Brazilian star and substitute, Rayan, netted a fourth in added time. It was a dominant display by the Cherries who had 67.9 per cent possession, a total of 36 shots on goal, 43 touches in the Lincoln box and, more importantly, they were able to hold onto their lead when having gone ahead, something they have failed to do in all three of their opening Premier League games. When asked by AFCB TV about Christie's performance and whether Rose had turned him into a goal scorer, the German joked "he's getting older and now he knows [there is] not much time to score, so now he starts! "Everyone is really happy for him... Ryan was injured for some weeks, it's good to see that he's back and in good shape and a good spot." Christie admitted himself, when speaking to BBC Radio Solent after the game, that he "didn't see a hat-trick coming," and shared that he liked Bournemouth's second goal, a header from a corner, best. "I don't score many headers, so I'll take that, especially from a corner. I'm due the set-piece guys a compliment for that. We spoke about it at half-time and it worked a treat, so I'll take it." After last night's excellent performance, Christie will be hoping to force his way into Rose's plans having only made two substitute appearances so far this season. The Cherries welcome Brentford to The Vitality Stadium this Saturday, 12 September, before heading out on their first European campaign to face off against Real Sociedad on Thursday 17 September.
