THE SEVEN GOALS... 7 minutes - Stainrod passed a free kick outside the box to McWilliams who beat his man before driving a low shot past Arthur. 1-0. 31 minutes - McQueen found Hetherston with a great cross- field pass and he showed superb control to chest the ball down and drive home from twenty yards. 2-0. 46 minutes - Hetherston set off on a great run, beating four defenders before hitting a volley high into the roof of the net. 3-0. (Dalziel scored for Raith, one minute before the break after a defensive error). 59 minutes - Alex Taylor scored his first goal as a Falkirk player after a lay-off from Stainrod. There seemed little to shoot at but Taylor found the gap. 4-1. Cody tackled Romaines shortly afterwards and Referee Herald sent the ex-Bairn off for retaliation, aiming a punch at the Falkirk player. At 4-1 with eleven men Raith were well beaten, with ten men they were destroyed. 66 minutes - McWilliams scored a great solo goal after a defence splitting run on the left. Arthur could only help the shot into the net. 5-1. 68 minutes - Sammy McGivern scored with a great dipping volley from the edge of the box. His left foot strike left Arthur helpless. 6-1. 79 minutes - Cody, who had replaced Baptie, took off from the halfway line and kept on going before hitting a vicious shot from 30-yards out. 7-1. Ironic chants of "Frank must stay" echoed from the Hope Street end. Raith boss Frank Connor reflected on the match and felt he should have left before the game, claiming his players had had a "difficult week".
