Celtic may be considering a move to bring Greg Taylor back to Parkhead, with the former Hoops defender reportedly open to a return if an agreement can be reached.
Speculation around Taylor’s future increased on Monday night after an Instagram story from The Private Driver GLA appeared to suggest the left-back may have been in Glasgow.
However, CeltsAreHere understands Taylor has been training with PAOK ahead of their Europa League third qualifying round second leg against Anderlecht on Thursday night.
The Greek side have been preparing for the trip to Belgium, with their squad travelling to Brussels ahead of the game.
Taylor was also involved in the first leg last week, coming off the bench in the 62nd minute.
That appearance would also have an impact if Celtic were to bring him back before their Champions League play-off against LASK.
Under UEFA rules, because Taylor has already played for PAOK during the qualifying rounds, he would not be eligible to represent Celtic in European qualifying or the play-off round this season.
He could still play domestically and would become eligible for Celtic in Europe again from the league phase, should the Hoops get there.
It means Taylor could not be brought back as an immediate European option for the LASK games.
His involvement with PAOK also makes the situation around Monday night’s social media post less clear, with no confirmation that Taylor had travelled to Glasgow in connection with a potential transfer.
The 28-year-old only left Celtic last summer to join PAOK, but his name has already been linked with a return as Martin O’Neill looks at adding another option at left-back.
Taylor knows Celtic well and would require little time to settle back into the club after his previous spell in Glasgow.
Reports have also suggested the defender would be open to returning if Celtic and PAOK can find an agreement.
For now, though, Taylor remains part of PAOK’s preparations.
His involvement in training and appearance in the first leg against Anderlecht show there has been no clear break from the Greek club ahead of Thursday’s European fixture.
The Glasgow speculation will naturally attract attention given the reports surrounding a possible Celtic comeback, but there is currently nothing to suggest a return has been completed or is close to being announced.
