The match started Tuesday night, and it lasted until after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Alcaraz took the first set, Shelton took sets two and three, and Alcaraz took the fourth set. The fifth set was a 10-point tiebreaker, and Shelton won it 10-7. Shelton will take on the No. 11 seed and American Frances Tiafoe on Friday to see who goes to the U.S. Open final.
