André Almeida now appears much closer to becoming a Swansea City player. However, the Portuguese midfielder wants one important detail changed before giving the move the green light. The Championship club have already agreed a deal with Valencia worth an initial €3.5m (£3m). The overall package is capable of rising to around €5-6m (£4.3-5.2m). The biggest obstacle had been convincing the player. According to local newspaper Superdeporte, citing journalist Germán Muñoz, the Valencia midfielder is now prepared to make the move to Wales. Valencia now face dilemma The new issue is Valencia. The Spanish club have spent much of the summer trying to secure a permanent sale for Almeida so they can raise funds for other transfers. A loan would still remove his wages from the books, but it would not provide the transfer income Valencia have been counting on. That means the focus of the negotiations has shifted. Yesterday Swansea needed to convince the player. Today they appear to have made progress on that front. The question is whether Valencia are prepared to compromise on the structure of the deal, or whether they continue pushing for the permanent transfer they have wanted throughout the window.
