The Philadelphia 76ers have continued to add more bodies ahead of training camp, as ESPN’s Dave McMenamin revealed that they have signed back-to-back NBA champion Dillon Jones to an Exhibit 10 contract as they round out their preseason roster. Jones spent last season with the New York Knicks, where he played in just seven games, averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds in very limited action. Before arriving in New York, he was part of the Oklahoma City Thunder team that captured the NBA Championship in 2025, which gives him consecutive title-winning seasons despite playing very little. This is another low-cost move that is designed to add more competition during training camp. Jones will not be guaranteed a place on the Sixers’ final regular-season roster. An Exhibit 10 deal allows the Sixers to evaluate him through camp and potentially keep him within the organization if he does not earn one of the available NBA roster spots. The Sixers have been active with these kinds of deals recently. Nearly a week ago, the Sixers signed seven-foot center Tacko Fall to an Exhibit 10 contract as he tries to make his NBA comeback after nearly four years away from the league. The team had also added Jameer Nelson Jr. and Saint Thomas on Exhibit 10 deals, which gives the Sixers several players to evaluate before making a final decision. Fall last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, he has spent much of his time playing overseas, including stints in Australia and China, before getting another NBA chance with the Sixers. Jones’ situation is rather different. He has been around the league since coming into the NBA, being selected with the 26th pick in the draft by the Washington Wizards, whose draft rights were eventually traded to the Knicks and then to the Thunder, where he won his first title. Then he rejoined the Knicks on a two-way contract and eventually won his second title. And now he has a chance to win three consecutive titles in a row as he joins a Sixers superteam, which has one of the most talented groups in the league with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, and LeBron James. His experience around championship teams could also work in his favor. Even if Jones was not a major contributor during either title run, spending consecutive seasons inside championship-winning teams gives him a lot of experience with the preparation and consistency required by elite teams. The Sixers will now get an opportunity to see whether that experience can translate to something useful during camp. The Sixers have made their intentions clear with the recent additions that they want competition for almost every roster spot. Jones enters camp without any guarantees, but as a back-to-back champion still trying to establish himself in the NBA, this is just another opportunity to prove that he belongs.
