Omaha Productions released ManningCast: Heist on Tuesday, the kickoff to the show’s sixth season. The short comedy sends the brothers on a mission to sneak into Roger Goodell’s office and rewrite the schedule for ESPN’s Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli. The clip is up now on ESPN’s YouTube channel and social accounts. It’s a schedule announcement dressed up as a studio comedy, with a long list of famous people walking through the frame. ESPN is selling the Mannings as hosts first. The joke is simple: two retired quarterbacks sneak into league headquarters and tinker with Monday night. What the ManningCast Heist actually is The mini-movie leans on a huge cameo list. Omaha Productions says more than 40 people appear, including Anne Hathaway, Paul Rudd, Larry David, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Serena Williams, Rob Gronkowski, Marshawn Lynch, and Jason and Travis Kelce. It is a familiar Manning bit stretched into a set piece: Peyton plotting, Eli deadpanning, famous people dropping in for a few seconds and leaving. ESPN2 will run a 30-minute SportsCenter special on the video tonight at 6 p.m. ET. The weekly show itself still starts at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and the ESPN App, beginning in Week 1. Where the season actually goes The sketch is cover for an actual schedule. Week 1 is Denver at Kansas City, a clean opening window. Then the Giants go to the Rams in Week 2, Dallas gets Philadelphia in Week 7, and the Bills have to go to Los Angeles in Week 5. Chicago visits Seattle, the Chargers go to Baltimore, and New England is back in Kansas City in Week 15. Dallas draws Seattle again in Week 13. The last regular ManningCast game is Houston at Green Bay in Week 17. The last date is the one ESPN cares about most. The brothers will call Super Bowl LXI live from Los Angeles, the closer to ESPN’s first Super Bowl season. That’s why the network turned a schedule drop into a heist film. Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli is still on the air because it sounds like two brothers on a couch, not a production meeting. Someone walks into the room, the conversation turns, and the main feed can’t follow it. Season 6 is that show with a larger stage. The heist clip is just the invitation.
