Colleen Kohm, a former Michigan State swimmer and coach with the Germantown Academy Aquatic Club, has been suspended by USA Swimming on an interim basis. Kohm, based out of Cary, N.C., was issued a suspension on September 2, listed with the following misconduct: “Abuse of Process; Bullying; Emotional Misconduct” (Subject to appeal/not yet final). She also appears in the U.S. Center for SafeSport disciplinary database with “Probation, No Contact Directive(s), Education” sanctions. A native of Pennsylvania, Kohm was an accomplished distance freestyler during her competitive career, having competed for Germantown Academy, the Germantown Academy Aquatic Club (GAAC)/Foxcatcher, and Michigan State University, and swimming at the U.S. Olympic Trials. She went on to work as a coach with the Upper Main Line YMCA, Episcopal Academy, Agnes Irwin School and the Germantown Academy Aquatic Club, according to a Germantown release published by Swimming World in 2015. According to online profiles, she has worked as a registered nurse (RN) at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, Pa. She also lists USA Swimming Administrative Official (AO), Meet Director (MD) and Operational Risk Director (ORD) in her X bio. SwimSwam has reached out to USA Swimming for clarification on her membership status.
